hope you enjoy the app. I would like to take the opportunity, to answer some questions which I’ve read over at the reviews of the SteamCenter market place page. If you think I missed something just post it. I will be happy to answer it. The below Q&A are from both SteamCenter and SteamCenter pro:
- Not able to chat even after entering the correct login credentials and entered the Steam Guard code.
This seems to be either a new bug or something changed with Steam API. I’m investigate and will hopefully have an answer soon.
- Where do I enter the Steam Guard code?
When you enter the information in the chat settings page you have to hit save for it to detect that you have Steam Guard enabled. The app will show you after that a third textbox where you can enter the Steam Guard code.
- App is not optimized for Windows Phone 8.
That’s right. At current we did only testing on WP7 devices but will concentrate on WP8 from now on to support the hight resolution displays and add more fancy features
- Live tile support would be great.
That’s right and it will be definitely supported in near future. It’s a feature I wanted to integrate a long time ago but simply didn’t found the time for this. The only question is what to show on the tile. Most of you suggested to inform on new chat requests. I’m not really sure if this will be possible from the beginning because we always forget, that SteamCenter uses the Steam API which is somehow limited in flexibility. For the beginning we will show the online status of the friends like: 10 friends online, 12 friends in-game, 7 friends snooze…
- Add a FAQ page to know what to do
Good idea. Although the app already has a help page with basic information we will include a FAQ into the app which will provide as many answers and solutions as possible to improve the user experience.
- The app is a bit slow.
That’s also correct. This is due to some resource files of the app. Some images like the background images can be optimized to improve the pane transition times, the loading times etc.
- Sometimes the app refreshes my friends list and sometimes not.
That’s all for now. I’m happy to see finally constructive critics and suggestions on the review page. Since the market place doesn’t allow us devs to respond to comments I took the time and wrote this here. As you know I’m preparing currently the update which will include chat history to the app. As soon as I’m finished with it I will adress the issues above so be sure to stay tuned
